George Lynch

George Lynch was born in Roanoke, VA and attended Patrick Henry High and graduated from Flint Hill Academy. He graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and was an esteemed college basketball player. He led the Tar Heels to the 1993 National Championship. His jersey and #34 is hanging in the Dean Dome. After being the overall 12th pick in the 1993 NBA draft, he played for the LA Lakers, Vancouver Grizzlies, the Philadelphia 76er’s and the Charlotte Hornets. He then spent 2 seasons supporting UC Irvine as the Assistant Athletic Director and the strength and conditioning coach for the Men’s Basketball team. Moving to Dallas, he coached under Larry Brown at Southern Methodist University for 5 years. After spending a year as an Assistant Coach in Grand Rapids, he became the Head Coach of Clark Atlanta where he led for 2 years. Currently, he is serving as the Co-Founder of HBCU Heroes. As the leader of this non-profit, his work levels the playing field for many students attending HBCU’s. HBCU Heroes leads the following initiatives: Provides scholarships and grants to HBCU students (eSports Tournaments); increases student participation in voting (Students to the Polls with Lyft, Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade, as well as the John Lewis campaign); and obtains the access of technology for HBCU students during the pandemic. These partnerships ensure that many minority college students can realize their academic goals. He strives to build additional corporate partnerships to increase positive outcomes for students.
